![]() Tricks Of The Trade: Stretched ResourcesTFM Columnist Jim Elledge attempts to level the playing field.
By James C. Elledge, IFMA Fellow, CFM, FMA, RPA, RIAQM Q I oversee 50 plus bank branches in the Houston, TX metropolitan area. I take care of all FM issues at all of the branches, as well as putting out bids for jobs, working with vendors, coordinating projects, etc. I have only two employees working for me, and they are on the trucks taking care of daily branch issues. I am the most understaffed facilities manager in the entire southeast system, yet I am supposed to do the same amount of work/projects as my counterparts, who have more staff and fewer branches. A What type of work order tracking are you using now? With a small staff, you will need to optimize its time to provide the maximum level of performance and prevent wasted time caused by interruptions.
